I believe the therapeutic process can be enlightening, challenging, at times uncomfortable, but ultimately transformative and healing. My hope for the relationship we co-create in this process as therapist and client is that you feel affirmed, cared for, safe, and valued. Through a holistic perspective that integrates the mind and body, I aim to empower my clients to identify with and realign with their values in order to achieve their goals and express their most authentic selves. I am passionate about helping individuals move past trauma so it no longer defines their present day experiences. I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker and my practice draws upon the modalities and foundations of EMDR (formally trained), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, Mindfulness-Based Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Attachment Theory, Systems Theory, Empowerment Perspective, and the mind-body connection. I am trauma informed and inclusive. I have had the pleasure of working with adults, young-adults, adolescents, first responders, active military duty, veterans, individuals who have experienced sexual assault, anxiety, depression, and relational conflicts. I have a particular focus on PTSD and trauma. I deeply look forward to what lies ahead in our work together.

I believe being a student and learning is an opportunity, and sometimes having a consistent therapist alongside can make the difference and help you get the most out of the opportunity. Being in school is not a singular thing, it’s not just about being the student in class who does assignments and gets the grade. In addition to being a student, there is one’s mental, physical, and emotional health, there are often bills to pay, and often the needs of others to meet. There are many other parts of ourselves and our lives that intersect with and function together with being in school. It can be overwhelming. It can be an adjustment. Transitions are big and important. There are our lives both in and out of school. Students are often also family members, caregivers, working individuals, or living with loss, trauma, depression, stress, or a medical illness. Students also learn differently, including some with accommodations for success. Some students find they need to confront an overwhelming need for perfection, or perhaps one is facing a particular challenge that is important to look at rather than look away. Therapy can be helpful when you are in school. I like to meet a client where they are at and begin by understanding you. I offer my warmth, and capacity to listen and to hold space even when the workable feels unworkable. I offer my experience and knowledge in counseling and in the creative art therapies, and hold value in an inclusive and affirmative lens. I enjoy working with students in higher education, meeting them in the places where school intersects with other parts of self that must be given care and attention, or to look more closely at or develop one’s career journey. I employ both talk therapy and the use of creative, expressive processes such as movement, poetry, art, music, story, and metaphor. The work is collaborative between counselor and client, being open about therapy goals and progress. I place value on your inherent strengths, and believe that we all hold motivation and an innate capacity to heal and be the very best versions of ourselves. Please call or email me to schedule a free consultation call.

Hello and welcome! I am a licensed marriage & family therapist. I worked with clients in the La Jolla/San Diego area for many years before moving across the country to Florida. I currently serve California, Colorado, and Florida-based clients via secure video counseling. I work with individuals, couples, and families to help each person resolve problems, to create more satisfying relationships, and to live more fulfilling and meaningful lives. I specialize in treating anxiety disorders, couples conflict, substance abuse, eating disorders, chronic illness, and pre-marital issues, but I also have experience helping people through a wide range of other problems that may be bothering them (please see "Services Provided" for more detailed information). My approach is mostly collaborative - I believe that my clients should have options when choosing what type of therapy treatment they feel is best for them. I also, when appropriate, will work closely with a client's healthcare providers as part of the treatment. This way, my clients have additional support as we work through challenges. I absolutely love working as a therapist! Nothing gives me more satisfaction than saving a marriage, increasing the bonds of love between family members, or helping someone overcome an addictive pattern and find new meaning in their life. Please contact me to set up your first appointment.

I am is a bicultural therapist, mother and wife who is passionate about supporting my clients while they navigate their unique life, relationships, and transitions. I was born and raised in Bogota, Colombia. I have a BA in Psychology and a master’s degree in Somatic Counseling Psychology from Naropa University. I am trained in trauma-based therapy and EMDR. I can support you both in English and Spanish. As a somatic therapist, I believe in the phenomenal connection between body and mind. I work to help her clients understand and establish a close relationship with their bodies. My somatic training supports the healing process by helping clients understanding how tuning into the nervous system alone can generate more wellbeing in daily life. I work with families, couples, children, teens and adults. As a therapist, I advocate and work with people of diverse backgrounds. My main lens is on the importance of how relationships shape who we are. I have experience working within various forms of attachment-based therapy and utilizes a trauma informed perspective to meet her clients where they are. My main purpose is to create a safe space to explore and unfold the process of self-discovery, healing, and growth. I am passionate about my clients and the specific supports they’re seeking and know how to apply my training at the level others can understand. When it comes to breaking down barriers, I believe in the power of understanding, exploring, and joining around challenges that can often lead to division and disconnection with self and others. In my work I find that it’s very important to feel seen and recognized in ways that are compassionate and respectful on all accounts. I like to laugh a lot and finds that rushing into things or placing timelines on major life processes can sometimes be unrealistic in the therapeutic setting. In my eyes I see that each of us has a unique understanding around our own timing and rhythm in the world, especially when challenged with life transitions. Offering therapy online.

As a Licensed Professional Counselor, I specialize in working with adolescents and young adults who struggle with emotional dysregulation that can lead to impulsive behaviors or avoidance. My work focuses on helping clients develop emotional awareness, increase psychological flexibility, and cultivate self-compassion while building practical tools for meaningful, lasting change. I bring over ten years of experience in community mental health, two years spent in a full-time position at Western Colorado University’s Counseling Center, where I provided individual counseling to students. As both a former WCU therapist and an alumni of the same school, I have a deep appreciation for the unique challenges students in a small mountain community can face and the support they deserve. My therapeutic approach is integrative and holistic, drawing from evidence-based modalities including Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), and Solution-Focused Brief Therapy (SFBT). I also incorporate principles from interpersonal neurobiology and attachment theory to create a supportive, grounded, and collaborative environment. I am trained in EMDR and can integrate this more structured approach to trauma processing if requested or recommended. I’m passionate about this work because I believe in the healing power of the therapeutic relationship and in every person’s capacity for growth. Together, we can create a space that fosters resilience, insight, and meaningful change.

Hey, I'm Maddie. I'm a therapist who specializes in helping young adults navigate the overwhelming parts of life—anxiety, depression, relationships, identity questions, and all the "what now?" moments that come with this stage of life. Here's the thing: Being a young adult today is hard. You're dealing with massive decisions about your future, trying to figure out who you are, managing relationships, and handling pressure from every direction. Maybe you're struggling with anxiety that makes it hard to focus or make decisions. Maybe you're feeling depressed and just going through the motions. Or maybe you're questioning everything—your major, your relationships, your path forward—and need someone to help you sort it out.

You’re not broken...you’re overwhelmed. If you’re a college student, grad student, or campus professional who looks like they’re “doing fine” but feels anything but fine on the inside, you’re not alone. Many of the people I work with say things like: “My brain never shuts off.” “I overthink everything I say or do.” “I’m exhausted, but slowing down feels scary.” “I keep it together for everyone else, but I’m unraveling inside.” “I don’t know how to rest without guilt.” On the outside, you’re capable, responsible, and high-functioning. On the inside, it feels like you’re carrying a constant mental and emotional load, and you’re tired of holding it all alone. I work with students and campus professionals who are: •burnt out and emotionally overloaded •stuck in anxiety, overthinking, or shame spirals •sensitive to feedback, conflict, or perceived disappointment •struggling with ADHD-style busy brains or emotional regulation •quietly afraid they’re “too much” or “not enough” You don’t need another productivity system, mindset hack, or pressure to “get it together.” You need a space where: •you don’t have to perform •your nervous system can slow down •your thoughts don’t run the show •you can untangle what actually matters to you How we’ll work together My approach is warm, collaborative, and grounded in Acceptance & Commitment Therapy (ACT) -a skills-based, evidence-supported approach that helps you: •get out of mental spirals without trying to force your thoughts away •respond more flexibly to stress, emotions, and uncertainty •build self-trust instead of self-criticism •create steadiness without losing your drive or ambition This isn’t about fixing you. It’s about learning how to be with yourself differently with more clarity, compassion, and choice. Support that fits campus life •Online therapy — flexible and accessible around classes, teaching, and work schedules •Walk & Talk sessions — for clients who think better with movement and nature •Small supportive groups — connection without pressure or emotional labor •Between-session tools — gentle prompts and supports so therapy doesn’t live only in the session If you’re wondering… •“Is therapy going to be too intense?” •“What if I don’t even know what I need?” •“What if I’m not ‘bad enough’ for therapy?” Those questions make sense — and you don’t need to answer them before reaching out. I offer complimentary consultations so you can get a feel for the process without pressure or obligation. You don’t have to know exactly what you want yet. We’ll start where you are — and move at a pace that actually works for you. 👉 Schedule a free consultation at www.thereddoortherapy.org ⸻ Emily MacNiven CO Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) LPC.0019496 Founder of The Red Door Therapy & Wellness Solutions Online therapy for adults across Colorado 🔗 www.thereddoortherapy.org

Whether due to stormy family dynamics, unstable relationships, first-gen, LGBTQ, 'adulting', or having to navigate the never-ending COVID pandemic - life can become unmanageable! In the past five years with the University of Florida, I've had the tremendous joy of helping people (help themselves) through these storms - recent/old trauma, loving-and-conflictual relationships, coming to more peace and power with one's identity, more clarity and success at academics and career aspirations. You can count on me to be authentic and open, to come from a place of tenderness, warmth, and humor. Based in genuine, caring listening I try to offer everything possible to help you achieve lasting change. I'm a licensed psychologist (Hawaii - where I lived for years, Florida and Colorado), and am familiar with key areas of the scientific, empirical work and helps articulate trauma, anxiety and depression - and this points powerfully to what we can do to heal. My scholarly research and clinical experiences led to the completion of a book, “The Bruised Heart”. This book provides both in-depth information on the science of emotional healing and multiple clinical examples of real people (clients) whom I was so fortunate to know. I'm especially a good fit for anyone that may be (or called) “hypersensitive”, anyone who longs for authentic friendship, anyone who feels destabilized, perhaps following a break-up or stemming from chaotic family patterns. I love working with gifted and high IQ individuals, for example, with medical students, post docs, artists, and musicians who are highly intelligent but “underperforming” and simply suffering. And I have a passion for first-gen students, and has worked with many from, for example, Colombia, Brazil and Iran. Additionally, I think I am a strong fit for anyone who passionate about psychospiritual approaches to healing, growth and transformation. There are very realistic, nonabstract, doable ways to integrate forms of meditation into one’s busy life and this can be a gamechanger. Finally, I supervise third-year psychiatry residents and routinely assist clients in exploring medication options.

College can be exciting, but it can also feel overwhelming. You may be balancing classes, work, relationships, family expectations, finances, or trying to figure out who you are and what comes next. If you're feeling anxious, emotionally drained, stuck, or carrying the weight of everything on your own, you're not alone. ICS Therapy provides telehealth services for individuals living in Texas, Colorado, and Florida. I provide a supportive, nonjudgmental space where you can slow down, process what you're experiencing, and build practical tools to navigate life's challenges with greater confidence. I enjoy working with college students who are managing anxiety, stress, life transitions, relationship concerns, trauma, self-esteem, burnout, and the pressures of trying to meet everyone's expectations. As a military spouse, former military child, and mother of four, I understand how major life changes, uncertainty, and balancing multiple roles can impact your emotional well-being. My approach is compassionate, collaborative, and tailored to your unique experiences and goals. Together, we'll help you better understand yourself, strengthen healthy coping skills, and create meaningful, lasting change. Whether this is your first time considering therapy or you're returning after taking a break, you deserve a space where you feel heard, respected, and supported. College can intensify pressure to succeed, make the “right” choices, and hold it all together, often alongside anxiety, perfectionism, people pleasing, relationship issues, or concerns about food, body image, or control. I work with college students and young adults who appear high-functioning on the outside but feel overwhelmed, disconnected, or unsure of themselves on the inside. Together, we slow things down, identify patterns that keep you stuck, and build insight and skills that support real, lasting change. My approach is collaborative, thoughtful, and tailored to you as a whole person, not a set of symptoms. I hold the CEDS-C credential, the highest certification in eating disorder treatment, and support students whose anxiety or perfectionism shows up around food, body image, or self-worth. Therapy can be a space to pause, feel understood, and reconnect with what matters most, without having to pretend you’re fine or push through alone.
