I specialize in anxiety, depression, body image issues, eating disorders, obsessive compulsive disorder & college adjustment/ academic stress. My therapeutic approach is practical and flexible, grounded in psychodynamic psychotherapy, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, Dialectical Behavior Therapy, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, and exposure therapy. I find that people often assume that they “should” know how to approach therapy. In reality, the process may not be quite so simple and may feel confusing. Thus, I frequently have conversations with my clients about how to use sessions and ongoing dialogues about our work together.

Hello, and welcome! I’m Kimberly Masterson, a licensed mental health counselor (LMHC) dedicated to supporting college students through life’s challenges. College can be an exciting yet stressful time, and it's completely normal to feel overwhelmed by the demands of school, social life, and future plans. If you’ve been struggling with anxiety, depression, past trauma, or ADHD, you’re not alone, and it’s okay to seek help. In our work together, I provide a safe, non-judgmental space where you can talk openly about what’s on your mind. You don’t have to face these challenges by yourself. My approach is understanding and tailored to meet you where you are, so we can work at your pace to help you feel better and move forward in your life. If you’re ready to take the next step toward feeling like yourself again, I’d be honored to support you in your journey.

I'm a rock drummer who finally figured things out after a dozen years of failure. Stuff gets in the way, and I've learned how to untangle most of the knots we get ourselves into. My focus is to build strength, trust, and reliance on skills your mom and dad may have tried to help you with. There is magic in gaining traction, and I help do that. Once you're unstuck, we work to keep growth going: altering bad habits, sticking to important schedules, and keeping obligations to work, school, and finances. It's all one big change, but if you take the lead, we'll make it happen. I guess you can call me a "coach on a mission." Try me.

Your present need not be your future! Life isn’t always easy. Today you may be anxious, depressed, stuck, overwhelmed, flunking out, and/or obsessed. Tomorrow can be different. The path to a better future may involve courageously exploring emotions or it may involve learning and practicing new habits or strategies. Sometimes little changes cause dramatic results. My specialty is working with you to determine what will work best for you. To this task I bring great depth and breadth of experience. I was actually a college dropout before I became a Clinical Psychologist and Neuropsychologist after first becoming an Educational & Career Counselor & then applying my knowledge & skills on myself. I’ve been in private practice as a therapist for over 30 years, have consulted to hospitals for decades as a Clinical Neuropsychologist, taught the graduate course Neuropsychology to psychology doctoral students for 18 years, created the graduate course Nutrition, Brain and Behavior, provided lectures on neuropsychology for medical students and residents through Harvard Medical School’s Spaulding Rehabilitation Hospital and created many continuing education courses for psychologists and lectured college counselors nationwide on improving college performance. I’ve done thousands of assessments encompassing ADHD, learning disability, autism, memory disorders, executive dysfunction, anxiety disorders and depression, yet, despite this I do not think in terms of these labels. Most sessions begin with screening not to assign a diagnosis but determination of the type of psychotherapy or lifestyle changes with which you are likely to feel most comfortable. Take the first step towards a better tomorrow.
