Therapists for college students near Cambridge, MA
Hello and thank you for considering me to help you with what you are experiencing! I have been in this field since 2006, with a special interest in life transitions, women’s issues, spirituality, anxiety, depression, and helping people to find meaning and purpose in life.
Welcome! We’re here to help you feel like yourself again. Life can feel overwhelming at times—whether it’s anxiety, stress, depression, loneliness, school or work challenges, relationship struggles, or navigating family dynamics. You don’t have to go through it alone. At Blue Square Counseling, we work with you to create a personalized plan that helps you feel grounded, in control, and empowered to take the next step forward. Our caring, collaborative, and experienced therapists are here to guide you with compassion and expertise. Your journey toward healing and growth starts here. We can’t wait to meet you.
Are you a high achiever but under value yourself? Work hard and have objective success but feel something is missing, or that it's still not enough? Do you feel aspects of your life need improvement, direction, guidance, change, or growth? Is the old tried and true approach you take, not working anymore? Come improve your mood, reduce anxiety, strengthen self-esteem, manage stress, work through academic/social/professional challenges, process grief, improve relationships and communication, strengthen parenting techniques, and have smoother life transitions. Therapy's success is equal to the work you put into it, come do the work! I have been working with clients in the greater Boston area since 2010, and have been an Adjunct Professor, teaching in higher education, since 2013. I combine components of Cognitive Behavioral Therapy with Positive Psychology, Narrative Therapies, Mindfulness Techniques, and Solutions Focused Problem Solving Techniques to tailor to your needs. My approach is caring & direct. I focus on the whole person, and work to help strengthen and balance the mentally, emotionally, physically, and behaviorally. I often ask "what is going well" to build on one's strengths and resilience, to better manage emotions, process experiences, and change behaviors.
Many of the people I work with feel overwhelmed by anxiety, upsetting intrusive thoughts, or past emotional wounds that continue to affect their relationships, confidence, and sense of safety. They are ready for relief, connection, and to feel more in control of their lives. I help clients by providing specialized treatments for anxiety conditions, OCD, body-focused repetitive behaviors (BFRBs), perfectionism, and the deep echoes of trauma—from relational and intergenerational wounds to betrayal trauma. I believe therapy can help us grow, even through deep pain. My role is to help you approach yourself with curiosity and compassion while guiding you toward healing and meaningful change. If this feels like the right fit for you then let's connect.

College is a challenge, on its own, in many ways. It can cause significant stress as well as trigger new or exacerbate existing mental health symptoms. Having space to work through the stress or symptoms you are experiencing can be incredibly beneficial (e.g. reduced stress, increased happiness, decrease in symptoms and/or severity, etc.), which can contribute to greater success and a greater overall experience during these years. I believe in creating a safe, supportive, nonjudgmental, and confidential therapy space that respects all identities and backgrounds where people can feel free to be their most authentic selves. I strive for people to feel comfortable in letting go of filters that tend to restrict them in honest disclosure and deep processing of their experiences. Thank you for taking the time to read about the practice and considering Sage Serenity Counseling. Please reach out if you have questions or would like to get started. I am ready to support you whenever you are ready!

I'm passionate about working with college students, especially international students, students of color, and first-generation students. These students are often interested in exploring their identities and navigating life transitions. They may also be looking for support with academic stress and how to live according to their values. I have previous experience working in a college counseling setting, and I'm eager to connect with students who are seeking support. I am psychodynamically trained and have focused much of my learning and clinical practice within a social justice framework. Before moving to the US, I lived and studied in China, Hong Kong, and Singapore. Therefore, both Eastern and Western philosophies and values influence and inform my perspectives and the integrative approaches that I bring to my work.
Feeling stuck, overwhelmed, or unsure of your next steps? College life can be stressful, and sometimes it’s hard to balance everything while taking care of yourself. I’m here to offer a safe, supportive space where you can feel heard and understood—whether you’re dealing with stress, low self-esteem, or just need help finding direction. I’m Katie Tefft, a Licensed Independent Clinical Social Worker (LICSW), and I specialize in helping young adults build resilience, develop practical coping skills, and reconnect with their confidence and purpose. I offer online telehealth sessions.
I'm a LICSW (Licensed Independent Clinical Social Worker) and work with clients experiencing stress, difficulties adjusting to major life changes, anxiety, depression, trauma, relationship and/or family dynamic issues. I take a client-centered, strength-based approach to helping clients navigate through their identified difficulties. I strongly value the client/therapist relationship and work to create an empathic, calm, accepting and safe environment for all my clients.
I am licensed to practice in Connecticut, Massachusetts and New York. I offer mental wellness and therapeutic support to individuals, couples and families. My specialization are supporting individuals living with ADHD, anxiety, depression, addiction (alcohol/drugs, gambling and sex), anxiety/depression, life transition and insomnia.
My work in counseling psychology emerged from being an artist. While earning my BFA at Massachusetts College of Art and Design, I was invited into my colleagues’ lives and learned to share their experiences through their lenses and perceptions. Graduate training at NYU sharpened this insight to bring a unique perspective to the therapeutic process. I provide feedback and reflection—infused with a dose of humor—in a warm, safe, and trusting atmosphere. My approach is both interactive and direct. I ask my clients to challenge themselves to be completely open and honest and share in a way that might feel like they’re ‘telling on themselves.’ Significant change and healing can only really begin with the whole truth. Believing strongly that the integration between mind and body leads to greater mental health, I encourage clients to incorporate physical activity and other treatment modalities: yoga, art, working out, running, massage, pets, acupuncture, meditation, medication, vacation, etc.
