Therapists for college students near Ann Arbor, MI
I'm Leah, and its so nice to meet you! I am a clinical social worker, dedicated to helping my clients navigate life’s challenges. My therapeutic style is comfortable and compassionate, with a large emphasis on my approach being client-centered. I specialize in working with children, adolescents, families, and parents. My passion lies with working with individuals impacted by anxiety, challenging emotions, life transitions, change, family dynamics, and high conflict divorce. My treatment style is tailored to meet the specific needs of each individual. My focus is on empowering clients to build better relationships with themselves, their goals, and those around them. I consider myself to be an eclectic therapist, and use a blend of evidence-based practices such as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Motivational Interviewing, mindfulness, and strengths-based therapy. I work to foster a safe and welcoming environment for clients. My therapy process is goal-oriented and communicative. We will work together to discover your strengths, identify specific goals, and implement skills into your everyday life. In doing this, you will build resilience, confidence, and independence. I want you to feel supported as you work through your experiences. A little bit about me: I hold a Master’s degree in Social Work from Wayne State University and a Bachelor’s degree in Social Work from Oakland University. My personal experiences have shaped the Psychotherapist I am today. I understand that starting therapy can be a difficult decision. However, it can be the most impactful and rewarding step toward positive change. I am a dedicated clinician, who looks forward to meeting each individual who steps into my office, as we work hand in hand through your journey of meaningful change.
As you embark on this therapeutic journey it is my goal to make you feel empowered, heard, understood, and to provide a safe and positive environment. We will learn and grow together as we discuss your difficulties and highlight your strengths. I believe developing a strong and positive therapeutic relationship is a huge part of making your therapeutic journey successful. I’m focused on meeting you where you are at and help you realize the strength within yourself because I firmly believe that you are the expert of your own life.
I work with a wide range of clients that have had ongoing struggles with depression, anxiety, and borderline personality disorder. I worked at a health clinic for a few years focusing on clients with postpartum depression, anxiety, and OCD. I offer a warm and inviting environment where you can share your struggles and traumas. My goal is to help make connections on why you may behave the way you do and then focus on helping you with change. In life we are always going through changes and transitions and everyone deserves to have a space to learn, grow, and heal.

Life is difficult, and it sometimes makes it seem nearly impossible to find the help needed to get through those challenging times. Whether it be anxiety, depression, substance use, addiction, impulse problems, empowerment or self esteem issues, we are here to empower you, meeting your needs
I work with individuals experiencing conflicts in relationships, in identity and/or the experience of self, and uncertainty in overcoming life’s many challenges. In our work together all aspects of you are welcome, and it is my hope that we will create a relationship in which you find comfort and safety to be yourself without fear of judgment. I accept BCBS, BCN, Priority Health and Aetna.
My clients are often either grieving, caring for a parent or spouse, or experiencing their own chronic or terminal illness. Many of my clients are adult children caring for an aging parent.
Do you feel lonely, misunderstood, or lost? Are you unable to share what you’re going through without fear, judgment, or shame? You’re not alone and your voice deserves to be heard. It can be hard to open up to a complete stranger about the pain and problems that you’re facing in life. I applaud you for your bravery in taking this first step. You may be going through a tough battle right now, and I believe that you have the strength in you to overcome it. I want to be the helping hand in getting you there. I won’t just hear you, but I wish to truly listen to understand where you’re coming from. Every person is an individual with their own story. I want to hear your story and help you on your path of life. This is a judgment-free zone. I want to build a relationship on trust and confidentiality so you can feel safe and free to bring your authentic self to session. I want to work with you to explore what you want from life and help you figure out how to get there. I want to support you through your journey in rewriting your life’s story so you can become the person you deserve to be. I have experience in working with abuse, trauma, and women’s issues. As a first-generation Pakistani-American Muslim, I offer a unique perspective to the counseling experience if you are looking for someone who shares a similar background to yours. For clients who would like a faith-based approach, I can integrate Islam into the therapy process. If you are from a Muslim or South Asian background but do not want a faith-based approach, I will provide a non-judgmental, understanding place that is both culturally sensitive and welcoming. If you are of a different faith or background, your worldview is what therapy will be focused on, not mine. How therapy goes is up to you. The therapeutic process is about you and your growth. If I meet what you’re looking for, feel free to call or email me and we can start working on your journey together.
It is a passion of mine to help individuals find peace and healing in their lives. I believe that everyone has the power within them to feel whole and happy. Sometimes, we just need some guidance. That's where I step in. My professional experience has taught me that most people already have the answers they seek, but sometimes need a little help to find them. I have experience in working with Trauma in many different forms. I can help you understand how different situations in your life can trigger trauma responses. I can help you understand that trauma comes in many forms and your body can respond in a variety of ways. You are the expert on you. I am here to help you find peace, self-awareness, personal growth, healing, and wellness. Education is a large part of counseling. The majority of growth and change occurs outside the counseling session, utilizing skills learned during our meetings. I am honored and proud to walk with you through a healing experience.
Many of the students I see are going through a tough or confusing time. You might feel overwhelmed by classes, pressure to succeed, or uncertainty about your future. Maybe you're dealing with anxiety, burnout, past trauma, or experiences that still affect how you feel or relate to others. Some feel emotionally stuck, isolated, or caught in patterns they want to change — including around substance use. You don’t need to have it all figured out. If you’re looking for a space where you can be yourself, talk honestly, and feel supported without judgment, therapy can help.
Feeling overwhelmed or just need someone to talk to? Are you experiencing thoughts that won’t stop, or days where it is too hard to find your motivation? At Soul Haven Counseling, I believe that everyone deserves a safe space to explore their thoughts, feelings, and challenges. Whether you're navigating anxiety, depression, substance use, relationship issues, or life transitions, I am here to guide you on your journey towards healing and growth. I understand that taking the first step can be daunting, but you're not alone. I work to create a friendly and approachable environment that encourages open communication and fosters trust, allowing you to share your experiences without fear of judgment. Together, we can work towards finding strategies that empower you to overcome obstacles and create a more fulfilling life.

Licensed to offer therapy services in Virginia, Tennessee, and Michigan, Dr. Honeycutt is often sought out due to the advanced IFS (Level 3) training he received in 2010 under the model's founder, Dr. Richard Schwartz. With particular interest in how the ancient Judeo-Christian understanding of the psyche (soul) overlaps with modern theories of mental health, he has spoken on this subject at conferences, educational seminars, and university classrooms. Approaching work with clients from a Christian framework of psycho-spiritual health, Dr. Honeycutt combines modern-day techniques and psychological research with an ancient understanding of the human condition as created by God. Non-Christian clients who are interested in such an approach are also welcome. Sessions are typically offered online for those living outside the Lynchburg area.
