My approach to the therapeutic process is built on trust, authenticity and growth. I combine warmth and comfort with gentle directness, helping you feel supported while also encouraging meaningful growth and personal accountability. Rather then offering quick fixes, I work alongside you to better understand the patterns that may be keeping you stuck, even if at times it is hard to hear.

My approach is down-to -earth and professional. I believe in the importance of humor and self compassion in our time together. Being transparent in therapy is crucial; meaning I will share with you why I am asking about certain things or suggesting certain ways of coping. You will find I am easy to talk to and respect how important our time together is. I have 23 years of experience in the mental health field working with people's symptoms of anxiety, stress and depression. Much of that time has been specializing in working with college students and people looking to go into helping professions (e.g. nurses, therapists, doctors)

Working with a counselor can be anxiety provoking, so my focus is on helping you to feel at ease and create clear goals to make you feel better. I love to support clients in developing skills to manage emotions, build mindfulness in moving through pain, and find compassionate ways to heal. I have spent over 15 years facilitating individual and group services that center around grief, schema, dissociation, and complex trauma. I have been trained in solution focused therapy, ACT, DBT, and EMDR. My passion is helping others customize their healing journey and to take pleasure in every step on their path. It's rare that anyone wakes up overnight a different person. Rather it's through the beautiful process that we develop insight, wisdom, and happiness.

I am a licensed clinical psychologist with an expertise in Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy (CBT). I specialize in working with adolescents, young adults, and adults struggling with a wide range of issues including social and generalized anxiety, OCD, panic, depression, self-esteem and emotion-regulation. I also enjoy working with individuals going through significant life transitions, such as adjustment to college, parenting, or divorce. I primarily utilize a CBT approach while integrating mindfulness and other techniques to the work when appropriate. I employ an active, collaborative, and individualistic approach to treatment with a validating stance.

It cannot be overstated what a big deal it is that you have begun to explore finding support for yourself. This first step is one of the hardest. I’d be honored to be a resource for you during this time, and accompany you as you grow and change. The majority of my clients are high achievers of all stripes, from Ivy League students to folks attending competitive conservatories and art schools. I was a performing artist (actor, singer, musician) for 12 years in New York City before changing careers, and I specialize in working with folks who have creative identities. Many of my clients are LGBTQ+ and/or neurodivergent, and most also find themselves in overfunctioning/underfunctioning dynamics in their relationships. My main therapy modality is Internal Family Systems (IFS), as well as somatic mindfulness-based therapy (Hakomi), and experiential therapy (gestalt). Basically this means that, in therapy, I will support you in getting more familiar with your internal system by helping you track what’s happening in your mind, your body, and between you and I (the therapist and the client). I’ll also guide you towards deepening your relationship with the different “parts” of your system, learning their agendas and desires, which sometimes produce inner conflicts and create stuckness. It’s well-known that being mindful of your body and breath is a great way to reduce stress, and using this practice as real situations arise in therapy will give you a practical way to use it in your day-to-day. As you get to know your system better, you will build greater trust within yourself, allowing for stuck parts to shift and for real lasting change to occur. If you’ve been in therapy before and it just felt like venting, IFS will be different. Pro tip: the research suggests that the therapy modality you use is less important than a trusting relationship with your therapist as far as positive therapy outcomes (though I will happily talk IFS theory for days). Do your best to go with your gut feeling about who intuitively feels right when choosing a therapist, even if right now might be the hardest time to do so. If something about my practice resonates, please reach out and schedule a consultation! I look forward to hearing from you soon!

TriBeCa Therapy is a center for psychotherapy that was founded on the assumption that human beings are original, imaginative, inspired, and inventive. We particularly love our work with young adults and college students and are connected to issues they deal with. Issues related to sex and dating, drugs and drinking, depression and anxiety and academic pressures aren’t topics that will freak us out. We can handle it. College students frequently discuss with us challenges such as: making friends in ways that don’t involve alcohol, making friends as a person of color, navigating social situations that demand connecting with strangers (like in the cafeteria) and finding “their people.” We work to create a partnership that takes these challenges on together, trying new strategies, taking increasingly bigger risks and dealing with the disappointments and celebrating the successes that follow. College is a time when many young adults are dealing with very adults issues like sex, sexual assault, eating disorders, substance abuse, managing money, race, class, and career choices. Creating a space where young adults feel comfortable talking about these issues is a strength of our therapists and a non-judgmental stance is key. The object isn’t to insist on a particular set of values or practices, but to support young people to understand what they are dealing with and to make active choices about who they want to be. College can be both exciting and overwhelming, a time of exploration, pressure, and major life transitions. I work with students who are learning how to balance it all: academics, relationships, identity, and the uncertainty of what comes next. Whether you’re feeling anxious, stuck, homesick, or unsure about your path, therapy can be a space to slow down, get curious, and reconnect with yourself. I’m currently pursuing my M.A. in Counseling for Mental Health and Wellness at NYU and earned my B.S. from Emerson College. My approach is person-centered and collaborative, guided by your unique strengths, values, and goals. I often draw from Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), which helps us move through self-doubt, perfectionism, or comparison, and focus on what really matters to you. I especially enjoy working with women, those navigating relationship challenges, stress, or women’s health concerns. My goal is to create a safe, judgment-free space where you can learn to manage difficult emotions, build resilience, and feel more grounded in who you are, both on campus and beyond. Sessions are available in person or virtually. Feel free to reach out by email or phone with any questions or to schedule a free consultation. I have flexible availability.

For oppressed people to intentionally cultivate pleasure is an act of resistance - Ingrid LaFleur. I specialize in providing culturally sensitive, trauma-informed, poly & kink-friendly, and queer-affirming therapy. My journey as a queer, non-monogamous South Asian neurodivergent woman, along with the experiences of those close to me, deeply shape my approach. I draw on my first-hand knowledge of navigating kink/sex-positive environments. It's important to me to approach therapy with a sense of curiosity and openness so that I can better understand and support my clients. I view each individual within the context of their environment, recognizing the complex intersections of their various identities. I rely on evidenced-based methods that consider the impact of trauma and are attuned to diverse cultural perspectives. In my sessions, I strive to create a safe space for clients to rehearse for life outside of therapy. Building an authentic relationship with my clients is my highest priority. Jiddu Krishnamurti said that it is no measure of health to be adjusted to a society that is profoundly sick and I do not see therapy as a way to numb the pain that is caused by systemic oppression but rather a way to empower clients to have compassion for themselves.

I am a clinical psychologist working with emerging adults and couples, specializing in issues around gender and sexuality as well as creativity and artistic identity. In practice, I believe in the utility of a strong working alliance, and strive to make you feel both understood and empowered throughout the evolution of treatment. While psychodynamic in orientation, I view my practice as integrative. Looking at patterns present in affect, behavior, and cognition, as well as through interpersonal experience, I endeavor to meet each patient where they are. I have extensive experience in couples and group therapy, particularly with non-monogamous and queer-identified populations. My clinical approach is informed by Emotion Focused Psychotherapy, Dialectical Behavior Therapy, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, and Mindfulness. At the same time, developmental history and early attachment patterns remain fundamental to my understanding of people. I view it as an immense privilege, coupled with high responsibility, to be entrusted with someone’s vulnerability. I earned my Doctorate in Clinical Psychology at CUNY City College. I also hold a Masters in Violin Performance from the Manhattan School of Music, where I subsequently served as a therapist in residence. I was formerly a violinist in the NYC-based quartet, ETHEL. My musical background and capacity for self-observation continue to inform my practice as a therapist. It is my experience that therapy provides a valuable stage, one on which you and I can imagine a different repertoire of human experience together.
