Hello! My name is Kelsea. I am a skilled and compassionate Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) and Credentialed Alcoholism and Substance Abuse Counselor (CASAC) in New York. I truly believe that everyone has the ability to improve their life experience. I create a safe space for my clients to be their authentic selves, while guiding self-exploration and identification of goals. I utilize evidence-based, trauma-informed practices to assist in achieving these goals. I meet my clients where they are by utilizing an affirming, non-judgmental and person-centered approach. I specialize in working with teens, young adults and college students to address depression, anxiety, alcohol/substance use, trauma/PTSD, suicidal thoughts/self-harm, low self-esteem, identity related issues, school stress and life transitions. My therapy approach is empowering and strength-focused, as well as direct and results-driven. While I tailor my approach to meet client specific needs, I often use Narrative Therapy to assist clients in taking control of and/or re-writing their story. I have extensive training and experience providing Dialectical Behavior Therapy, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Motivational Interviewing, and evidence-based Trauma/PTSD therapy modalities. I aim to make quality mental health care accessible. If you are self-pay, please reach out so we can explore setting a fee that works for you.
I work with students who struggle with anxiety, OCD, depression, and general stressors and challenges. I also work with a lot of students with eating disorders and body image concerns. I use a variety of therapeutic modalities/strategies to come up with a unique toolkit that will help to address your goals.
College a new world. Young adults often begin to experience anxiety and depression for the first time there, while some have been struggling for years. Either way, dealing with these feelings with experienced help is often the most effective way to approach emotional issues. I’ve worked with many college students on anxiety, depression, the stress of academics, social issues, family conflict, anxiety about careers, and other issues that come up out of this huge change. I help students learn to relate to themselves with curiosity and compassion, quieting that inner voice of self criticism, which will then allow a transition to change and growth. If we both think it’s helpful, I can also intervene with parents, in order to help them understand your struggles better, and have more supportive, constructive family discussions. I also teach mindfulness skills, which helps to cope with overwhelming feelings.
Bussey Holistic Therapy is founded on the premise that all human beings have an innate desire for balance, healing, and growth. How each person defines these concepts are individually unique. I view each client as a whole person–mind, body, and spirit. I meet each client where they are in order to help them meet their personal goals. As a therapist, I am here to partner with you on your journey. Although life has the potential to be joyful and fulfilling, at times we all face challenges. This is part of the human condition and none of us is immune. While we may generally have the resilience to cope and to move through difficult experiences, there are those times when we become aware that additional support and resources may be helpful in navigating difficult circumstances, healing from painful experiences from the past; or when we become aware of thoughts, feelings, or behaviors that we would like to address in order to live a richer life. Therapy can be a constructive resource offering a safe space to heal and grow.

College and medical school can be some of the most exciting — and overwhelming — years of your life. I work with college students and medical trainees navigating stress, anxiety, burnout, perfectionism, relationship challenges, identity development, and life transitions. My approach is collaborative, grounded, and practical. I help students build emotional regulation skills, challenge unhelpful thinking patterns, and develop resilience without sacrificing their ambition. Whether you’re managing academic pressure, imposter syndrome, family expectations, or simply feeling stuck, therapy with me is a space where you don’t have to hold it all together. I especially enjoy supporting high-achieving students who feel like they “should” be fine but are quietly struggling. You don’t have to do this alone.

Clients I meet tend to experience a lot of emotional and psychological mistreatment in their childhood, and how that impacts their adulthood. I spend a lot of time with people helping them figure out their boundaries with others, and how to deal with conflict in different relationships. I’ve worked with people on the ideas of perfectionism recently, and how it can create a negative space internally when one’s standards are not met often.
