I work with many college students who are needing some support, guidance, and tools that can help them navigate their current life situation. I personally understand, from my own experience at college, some of the challenges and difficulties that can arise, so there is a lot of compassion and understanding for what you may be experiencing. I also have experience working with local students at CU. College can be exciting, fresh, and new. At the same, it puts us in completely new surroundings and situations. Overwhelm is natural. To any student who is considering therapy, I hope you know that overwhelm doesn't mean that something has gone wrong. It's normal when there are so many big changes taking place. My job is primarily to listen to you, and to really try to understand things from your perspective. This in itself is quite relieving: to be heard, seen, and understood. There's no reason for you to feel completely alone and isolated in your experience. Above all, you will find a supportive space in my practice for you to be at ease and be yourself. There are many wonderful counselors out there, and many not-so-good ones. My strong advice to you is to find a therapist who you really like, and don't stop looking for one until you find them. Before and during my own college experience, I had visited several counselors who I didn't have a real connection with. It wasn't until I was 22 that I found a counselor who I really connected with. Counseling should be a very positive experience. It is a huge resource in life. Trust yourself about what feels good to you - and go for it!

I believe that every situation is workable. Each person has the capacity for healing, connection, and growth. We all have an innate brilliance that yearns to be uncovered. Furthermore, given a safe, compassionate, and supportive space to be truly seen and understood, the wisdom of each client will naturally shine. I provide relational therapy to individuals, couples, and other relationship formations. I meet my clients with a warm and safe space to explore who they are, why they are, and what is in the way of thriving in their relationships with themselves and others. I believe the most powerful aspect of therapy lies within relationships, including the one between client and therapist. My work is based on a genuine, respectful and trusting relationship – and the understanding that each of us is the foremost expert in ourselves. I help guide my clients past the obstacles that block them from success, contentment, and peace of mind. Every person comes to me with their own unique needs, and I tailor my sessions to provide them with effective therapy that is individualized and nurturing. If you're struggling with relationship difficulties, repeating old patterns, or would just like to feel more authentic and whole, I invite you to reach out and see if working with me could be a good fit.

The state of our world can be so heartbreaking that we feel immobilized at times. Much of our potential is blocked by feeling overwhelmed by the day to day challenge of struggling to advocate for ourselves in our communities, the world, even in our own thoughts and beliefs! It is easy to feel anxious, alone or ungrounded. As a therapist, I have immense respect for the innate knowledge and wisdom in each of us. I strive to create a collaborative environment in which you will feel supported in developing an intimacy with yourself and your experience, allowing you to free parts that are stuck in or burdened by past experiences. I emphasize serving individuals that experience marginalized identities and see myself as your co-conspirator. I work with issues of identity and non-normative experiences, in the context of gender, sexuality and queer experiences beyond that framework. I also work with and acknowledge the grief and trauma associated with the crises of our society, species and planet. My approach relies primarily on internal family systems or (parts work), narrative therapy, as well as Buddhist psychology. Our work together will emphasize somatic experience as a way to directly contact and understand how we are impacted by the world while developing the outer and inner resources to respond empowered with choice.

Hi, I’m Lauren Hugunin, MFTC, and I know that college is a time of huge transitions—academically, socially, and personally. You might be navigating new relationships, exploring your identity, or dealing with the pressures of dating, sex, and intimacy. On top of that, shifting family dynamics can bring their own challenges, whether it's increased independence, lingering expectations, or navigating difficult conversations about who you are becoming. I provide a safe, affirming space where you can process these experiences without shame or judgment. Whether you’re struggling with communication in your relationships, working through past experiences that impact intimacy, or feeling tension with family as you grow into your own person, I’m here to support you. You don’t have to figure it all out alone. Let’s work together to help you build confidence, set boundaries, and create relationships that truly align with who you are. I am Shana Dobson, also known as Shana "Danger" Dobson, former UFC fighter. I am a Licensed Professional Counselor that has navigated marginalization in athletic, social, and mental health related spaces. I knew firsthand the importance of mental health community and support, being a Black, queer, neurodiverse, masculine presenting, first generation American with Jamaican roots. Mainstream mental health care was not built for everyone. Marginalized communities often face the additional burden of educating their therapist about their own lives — and that burden gets in the way of healing. At Path2Peace, we believe every person deserves a clinician who brings genuine, lived understanding — not just cultural competency training. We use the word communities intentionally, because every identity we serve represents a community with power, beauty, and resilience. Our practice is fully telehealth, Colorado-based, and rooted in affirming, intersectional care. As a proud professional athlete, I understand what it means to exist at the intersection of multiple identities in spaces that were not always built for you. That knowledge is not incidental to my clinical work — it is central to it. Path2Peace is a space that not only acknowledges these realities, but supports and empowers the communities impacted by them. I created Path2Peace because I know what it feels like to walk into a space and immediately wonder whether you're truly welcome there. This practice is my answer to that feeling: a fully telehealth practice in Colorado built on the belief that clients from marginalized communities deserve therapists who share their lived experience — not just clinicians who've attended a training about them. This practice is growing, and I'm excited to connect with clients who are ready to begin their journey and therapists who are ready to practice in a space that honors everything they are.

I love working with college students. You are at an exciting pivot point in your life. Adjusting to college is both exciting and daunting. You may be dealing with social, cultural and academic stress as you adjust to a new environment. You may begin to look at your childhood and teen years from a new perspective. You may be thinking about the life you want to design for yourself moving forward, and the impact you want to make in the world. I have worked with student athletes and others juggling the demands of college life. In Colorado Springs, I work with students from Colorado College, UCCS, and Pikes Peak State College. I am happy to work with students from UC Boulder and Colorado School of Mines via Telehealth. I believe everyone has the capacity to heal and thrive, and sort out what's distressing or confusing you, including academic stress, romantic relationships, family relationships, friendships, and your relationship with yourself. I offer ways to understand and manage anxiety, depression, trauma, and identity issues. I am client-centered and take a holistic biopsychosocial approach. I believe in the power of the therapeutic relationship, and I use evidence-based practices and the latest scientific research to help you achieve relief, clarity, and joy.

Hi! Many of the clients I work with are looking to work through trauma and work towards building and maintaining fulfilling relationships, process trauma from relationships, reduce anxiety and depression, and learn healthy coping skills. In sessions I place high importance on the relationships I build with my clients as this plays the most crucial role in therapy success. I model my values by maintaining an approach that is affirming, trauma-informed, open-minded, and compassionate while also being direct. My approach will honor your unique experience and be focused on your personal needs. I incorporate CBT, RCT, EMDR & narrative therapy into our sessions to help you navigate harmful thinking patterns/behaviors, process trauma, & have healthier relationships with yourself/others.
