Many people want to be listened to and to feel that their experience can be acknowledged authentically in us talking together. When we put things into words it may be easier to think and to make choices about what matters to you and to your very own well being. My hours include morning and afternoon. Currently, I am working by telephone and video.

I earned my master's degree in social work from Widener University and my bachelor's degree in psychology from Pennsylvania State University. Outside of my practice, I enjoy spending time with family, golfing, playing video games, and following my favorite sports teams. Over the past decade, I’ve worked within various healthcare systems, specializing in OCD, anxiety-related conditions, BFRBs, ADHD, and depression. I am certified in Cognitive Behavior Therapy (CBT) through The Beck Institute, a rigorous process involving many hours of training and consultation with clinical psychologists specializing in CBT. I am certified in Exposure and Response Prevention (ERP) and have received extensive training and consultation through the University of Pennsylvania Center for the Treatment and Study of Anxiety (CTSA). I am a member of the International Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder Foundation (IOCDF). I have also received specialized training in Comprehensive Behavioral (ComB) Treatment, Habit Reversal Training (HRT), & Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT). I have held leadership roles including Director, Manager, and Supervisor of Behavioral Health across multiple healthcare systems. These experiences have provided me with a deep understanding of workplace stress and burnout, making me especially attuned to the needs of professionals navigating high-demand environments. In addition to my private practice, I work as a Behavioral Health Clinician in the Emergency Room at Main Line Health System, providing psychiatric crisis assessments and support to individuals and families during some of their most vulnerable moments. As a licensed clinical psychologist in New York, New Jersey, and Connecticut, I am dedicated to providing evidence-based care to adolescents, emerging adults, and adults navigating a variety of challenges. My therapeutic approach focuses on creating a safe, compassionate, and culturally responsive environment where you can feel truly heard and supported. I tailor treatment to meet each person's unique needs, working together with you to foster meaningful, lasting change. I also collaborate with other professionals involved in your care and communicate with family members when you choose to include them in the process. I specialize in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), two proven approaches that help individuals build practical coping skills, manage emotions, and develop healthier ways of thinking and acting. I also have advanced training in trauma-focused therapies and am certified in Prolonged Exposure Therapy, a specialized treatment for PTSD.
I understand the decision to begin therapy can be challenging. If you are feeling "stuck," please know that you are not alone and we can navigate this hard time together. Individuals, couples, or families who choose to engage in therapy, will ultimately be choosing a very effective way of facilitating change for themselves and their important relationships. By working together, I have confidence that we can collaborate to create new experiences, beginnings, and perspectives. My style is warm, compassionate, and empathetic while also using my sense of humor when appropriate. In a non-judgmental and safe environment, we will collaborate to ensure that our work together is meaningful and goal-oriented, suited to fit your needs. Life begins at the end of your comfort zone." It's time to start living the life that is calling you.
Feeling overwhelmed, stuck, emotionally exhausted, or unsure of how to move forward? With more than eight years of experience in both inpatient and outpatient settings, I am comfortable supporting clients with a wide range of needs and diagnoses. I meet each client where they are and work collaboratively with them to build confidence, strengthen coping skills, and create realistic steps toward meaningful change. Some clients come to therapy seeking practical coping skills, while others need a safe place to process their experiences and better understand themselves. Whatever your reason may be, let's explore and work together. I specialize in working with individuals, families, and couples experiencing various mental health concerns, including anxiety, trauma and grief, depression, emotional dysregulation, mood disorders, stress, life transitions, substance abuse disorders, and serious mental illness. My approach is flexible and individualized because no single method works for everyone. Starting therapy can feel uncomfortable, especially when you are used to carrying everything on your own or have not always felt heard or understood. I strive to create a safe, compassionate, and judgment-free environment where you can be honest about what you are experiencing without fear of criticism.
Do you ever feel overwhelmed by the pressure you put on yourself or by what everyone else seems to expect from you? College can come with a long list of demands. Do well in classes. Make friends. Join clubs. Keep everyone happy. Figure out your future. When all of this adds up, it can start to feel heavy and confusing. I’m Emily, a therapist with extensive experience working with children, teens, and adults in community mental health clinics, schools, non-profits, and group practices. I help students work through anxiety, depression, self-doubt, identity exploration, social challenges, and the impact of past experiences or trauma. I use approaches like CBT, DBT, and psychodynamic therapy, along with a strengths-based and trauma-informed perspective. What this really means is that we work together to understand what you are experiencing and develop tools that fit you as an individual. My goal is to offer a space where you feel safe, accepted, and supported while you figure things out. You deserve a place where you can be honest, build confidence, and move toward self-acceptance. Whatever you are facing, you belong here. I am here to listen, help you make sense of things, and support you as you work toward the life you want.
Therapeutic services offered remotely by a NYS licensed psychologist with over 20 years experience. My philosophy is to view each client I work with as a unique individual. I treat people, not disorders.
PVD Psychological Associates (PVD Psych) is a private psychology practice on the East Side of Providence, Rhode Island. Our mission is to provide the greater Rhode Island area with exceptional therapy, offering cutting edge and research-supported treatment by a team of highly trained therapists. We offer therapy for adults, college students, and adolescents struggling with anxiety, school/career concerns, eating disorders, infertility and women's health issues, and relationship difficulties. PVD Psych is a LGBTQIA-affirmative practice, and is one of few Blue Cross Blue Shield of Rhode Island LGBTQ Safe Zone certified providers. We strongly believe that everyone has the right to respectful and affirming, high quality care. My areas of specialization and interest include: women's issues, depression, anxiety, stress management, and working with LGBTQIA-identified individuals and family members. I practice primarily from a relational-dynamic perspective, though I also incorporate techniques from cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), dialectical behavior therapy (DBT), and narrative approaches to address and tailor treatment to the unique and individual needs of each client. In my work as a therapist, I focus on understanding early experiences and how psychological well-being can be fostered through relationships. I believe change and healing come through relationships: our relationships with ourselves, as well as our relationships with others. I view therapy as a collaborative process that allows both therapist and client to grow and change. My clients describe me as an empathetic, active listener who approaches their concerns with caring, respect, pragmatism, and sometimes, humor. I'm honored that you're considering working with me and I would be happy to answer any questions that you may have. Please feel free to contact me.

I offer a warm, non‑judgmental space where you can slow down, breathe, and explore what’s really happening beneath the surface. My approach is deeply trauma‑informed and grounded in the belief that healing happens at your pace, with safety and connection at the center. I support adults navigating trauma, anxiety, depression, low self‑esteem, caregiver burnout, and the emotional weight of complex family systems. My style is collaborative, compassionate, and tailored to your unique needs. I draw from an integrative blend of EMDR, Internal Family Systems, Somatic Experiencing, polyvagal‑informed work, CBT, and DBT. This flexibility allows us to work with both the mind and the body, helping you build grounding, resilience, and a deeper sense of self‑trust. Living with CPTSD myself, I understand how essential it is to feel truly seen and supported in therapy. I bring experience from inpatient psychiatric settings, where I worked with individuals facing acute mental health challenges and crisis situations. I’m especially passionate about supporting caregivers and those who tend to everyone else before themselves. I offer telehealth and in‑person sessions. My goal is to help you feel more empowered, more connected to yourself, and more able to imagine what’s possible for your life.
Hi! I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker with over 12 years of clinical experiences working with young adults who struggle with anxiety, depression, relationship concerns, and trauma. I work with adults of all ages, but particularly enjoy working with college and graduate students. I look forward to hearing from you!
Oh college, it's "supposed" to be the best days of your life...whoever came up with that needs a serious reality check. I've been through it and have also worked with enough college students, young adults, and adults of all ages to say that for many of us, that statement is completely false. So please know that if you find that these are not the best days (or even if you feel that these are the worst days), you are not alone. There is nothing "wrong" with you and I am here to help. I unfortunately don't have a magic wand to transform your college experience into something you see in the movies, but I provide a combination of medication management and brief supportive therapy (a fancy way of saying I include some therapy during our 30 minute medication follow up appointments) that can help address concerns like depression, anxiety, obsessive thoughts, and mood disorders. I’ll work with you to create a personalized plan that meets your unique needs and helps you achieve your mental health goals. Talking about medication can be daunting. When I prescribe it, my goal isn’t to change who you are, but to help you rediscover what life can be like when your symptoms are managed. While medication won’t solve every issue, it can be a powerful tool alongside therapy and lifestyle changes, enabling you to reclaim your ability to thrive.
I pull from my personal, spiritual and clinical experience. I have extensively trained in Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) for 20 years. Also, trained in family systems therapy with a focus on immigrant, relational and transitional difficulties. Discovering life in the moment and addressing obstacles to achieve emotional health is my main focus.
Are you feeling stuck, anxious, or unhappy with certain areas of your life? I can help you examine what is causing those feelings so you can start to rebuild your confidence as you overcome patterns that may be holding you back. My goal is to provide a supportive, therapeutic space as we begin to explore how you can find greater peace and clarity. I look forward to connecting with you!
