Licensed Mental Health Counselor
Providence, RI

Hi, I’m Reeti Kumar, and yes, therapy really can make life feel lighter. I’m a Licensed Mental Health Counselor providing virtual therapy in Rhode Island, New York, and Connecticut. I help people get back to living the kind of life they actually want — not just the one they’re pushing through. I love working with college & grad students who are motivated to make changes but maybe feel stuck, overwhelmed, or caught in a loop of overthinking (hi, anxiety and perfectionism). In our sessions, you’ll find a mix of evidence-based techniques including Cognitive Behavior Therapy, (because science works!) and down-to-earth conversations (because we’re both human). I also treat OCD with Exposure and Response Prevention - the gold standard to help you say "No way" to those compulsions making you late to class! I bring in a multicultural lens, helping clients explore their identities, navigate family dynamics, and find balance between culture and expectations. I offer a warm, judgment-free space where you can say what’s really on your mind (yes, even the “weird” thoughts — we all have them). Together, we’ll work on untangling unhelpful thinking patterns and building habits that support a calmer, healthier life.

Licensed Mental Health Counselor
Amherst, NY

I am a licensed clinician who has been providing therapy services for 4 years. I am trained in trauma informed care and trauma modalities to address PTSD and other trauma-stressor disorders. I also specialize in cognitive behavioral therapy to address anxiety and depressive symptoms. I provide a person-centered approach while focusing on specific areas of concern and processing their impact on your daily life. During the initial session, I like to focus on getting to know you as the client and what you want out of therapy. I know therapy can be very intimidating and I am here to help make the first steps as easy as possible.

I aim to help guide my clients to where they want to be in their life. This means creating a nonjudgemental space that can be used however it is most helpful to each individual, whether it be learning new coping skills or having a safe space to discuss difficult topics. My intention is to support and help guide my clients in exploring their issues, needs, and goals. I have fortified my knowledge with extensive coursework in diversity, inclusion, social justice advocacy, and awareness. My belief is in fostering a supportive and empathetic counseling environment where my clients are not only heard but also understood. I also enjoy incorporating artistic expression into my counseling approach. I strive to understand each and every one of my client's unique identities and specific needs. I understand how difficult and daunting it can be to take the first step in reaching out for help and I will honor the pace at which you may need. I am dedicated to creating a safe, welcoming, and supportive environment for my clients.

there are a number of credentials i could share about myself and ways you might decide if i'm the right therapist for you, but honestly, between you and me, what matters is that i love this work and i believe in this work. i feel deeply humbled to hold people's stories and hearts for a living. the trust that this work requires is no small thing, and i never take that lightly. in my clinical practice, i use theories rooted in an anti-racist, queer liberation, harm reduction, and body-neutral framework. i feel most drawn to this work through an attachment-focused analytical frame. we have all been harmed in relationships, and i believe our healing must also exist in relationships. i know we cannot look at one's personal frame without understanding the systemic and cultural impact that intersectionality has had on one's own experience. i have committed to my clinical work always evolving, and we will both teach each other what comes next. i can't promise a safe place, but i can promise an accountable one. i will create the container, i will show up for rupture, and together we will build a foundation of trust to help you heal, grow, challenge, and shift the things that brought you here. i received my master's in clinical social work from silberman school of social work at hunter college in new york city. after graduation, i worked in community mental health, supporting young mothers on their journey towards recovery from opioid-based addictions. i then joined a group practice where i've worked for many years, supporting folks to heal complicated relationships with food, their bodies, their boundaries, their gender, and their sexuality. i believe i am a partner in this work with you, and as people change, heal, and move forward in their lives, i feel profoundly impacted to bear witness and be a part of your story. it is miraculous. finding the right therapist is a process: trust yourself, explore, ask hard questions. we work for you and with you. i am a white, queer, abolitionist, non-binary, dyslexic, jewish, body-liberatory therapist, and most importantly, a client. the only thing i ask of the folks i work with is a commitment to show up, and the rest we will figure out together.

I view therapy as the process of developing a better understanding of thoughts, emotions and patterns. I utilize a person-centered therapy approach to create a warm, non-judgmental atmosphere where you can feel comfortable and safe. Through the journey of self-discovery, your needs and wants from the therapy process may change. This is why I pull from different evidence-based therapy approaches such as CBT and positive psychology to best fit with your needs at the time. I have experience working with a variety of mental health concerns. However, no two people are the same. Together we will work towards your unique goals utilizing the individual strengths you bring. Deciding to begin therapy can be scary. I will help to illuminate the process and ease your concerns. I am currently accepting new clients. I look forward to hearing from you and starting this journey together.
