Therapists for college students near Ann Arbor, MI
Hi! I’m Christen Clark, LMSW. I’m passionate about counseling women going through anxiety, depression, grief or challenging life transitions. In particular, I have a heart for college students, young adults, and women going through pregnancy/postpartum. Life can be hard. Transitions have a tendency to bring up past trauma, anxiety, or depression. Sometimes “high achievers” can be suffering internally with their mental health while no one else knows. If life feels overwhelming, out of control, or it is becoming hard to function - you’re in the right place. There is hope. I know reaching out for help can be intimidating - maybe even scary. My goal is to help you feel at ease in therapy sessions by building a real relationship. I hope to provide a warm, loving presence and to help you recognize your own strengths. My number one priority is making sure we are a good fit and building trust in our therapeutic relationship. I am fueled by my faith in God to treat every woman I encounter with love, support, and grace. You are worthy of love, acceptance, and to see the beauty of life again. Although I am a Christian, I have experience working with women from all kinds of diverse backgrounds. I value your worldview and we can use faith as much or as little as you desire in our sessions. You are not alone. Keeping our depressive or anxious thoughts in the dark is a breeding place for shame. Opening up is the only way to move towards healing. Sometimes, when we shine a light on what seems so dark and shameful we find out it’s not as bad as we thought. As someone who has struggled personally, I provide a non-judgmental atmosphere in our sessions. I am grateful for 8 years of experience in social work after graduating from Grand Valley State University with a Bachelor’s Degree in social work and a Master’s Degree in social work from Spring Arbor University. I’m currently providing exclusively online individual therapy services. Good news - no matter where you’re located in the State of Michigan, I can help.
Many of the people I see feel overwhelmed by ADHD and want support from someone who truly understands how it affects daily life. Some also carry trauma or PTSD and are looking for a safe place to work through what they have been holding. They want practical tools, honest feedback, and a therapist who understands how their brain works.
We are a group practice made up of social workers, counselors and a psychologist. Each provider brings a set of unique skills and specialties to the group including feeding and eating concerns, body image issues, grief and loss and relationship concerns. We understand the complexities of attending a university and are here to assist you along the way!
I specialize in supporting young adults as they navigate the many transitions that come with this stage of life—figuring out who they are, where they belong, and how they want to move through the world. Young adulthood can be a time of questioning, unlearning, and redefining yourself, especially after years of being told who you should be, what you should want, or how you should show up. At the heart of my work is a deep commitment to helping clients reconnect with their own voice—particularly when that voice has been shaped, silenced, or overshadowed by grief, anxiety, depression, or powerful systems and environments. In a loud, opinionated world, learning to listen to yourself and speak from a place of authenticity can feel daunting. My goal is to help you build trust in your inner voice and feel more confident using it—whether that means setting boundaries, expressing needs, or simply allowing yourself to take up space. I view therapy as a collaborative process, walking alongside you as you explore your identity, emotions, values, and the version of yourself you’re becoming. My approach is integrative and holistic, drawing from art therapy techniques, nervous system regulation, and mindfulness practices to support growth, healing, and self-connection. Starting therapy can feel intimidating, and the fact that you’re here exploring different profiles already says a lot about your courage. I’m really glad you found mine. Let’s connect and explore how we can support your healing and wellness together. Reach out for a free 15-minute consultation—available in person, by phone, or via Zoom.

You might be facing anxiety, postpartum struggles, burnout, infertility, or challenges with your child’s school experience, like IEPs or behavioral concerns. I work with teens, adults, and families navigating stress, parenting, transitions, or the complexities of adoption. Therapy can be a space to reflect, heal, and reconnect with yourself. You don’t have to have it all figured out—just be willing to start. You’ll find a safe, supportive space to feel validated and build skills like emotional regulation, coping, and communication. I use a compassionate, strengths-based, and trauma-informed approach, drawing on CBT and my 27 years of experience supporting teens and families. I will meet with you right where you are at and help you grow and heal from there. I really care about people and the stories they carry. Life can be messy, and therapy gives you space to talk it through, feel heard, and sort things out. We'll work together in a way that feels supportive and real—so you can better understand yourself, feel more like you, and start to move forward.

You may have been holding things together okay, but lately it's been harder. It may be harder to sleep, do the things you want to do, or maybe you don't want to do anything at all. It's been too overwhelming and you don't know how to move forward. Emotions can take control sometimes. Other times we have difficulty engaging with them. I work with clients who want to learn how to navigate their emotions and process events that don't make sense. I help my clients engage with their emotions safely and confidently. I provide a Christian emphasis if desired. You don't have to keep doing this alone. I can help you process your emotions so you experience the freedom you're looking for. We will go at your pace.
People seek out a therapist for a variety of reasons-day-to-day life stressors, unhelpful thoughts, or significant life transitions. I want to provide people with a space where they can process any of these topics in a compassionate and empathetic manner. Therapy is a journey and I seek to walk this journey by your side while empowering you to explore, identify, and live the best versions of your life. Prior to working at Therapy Today, I worked at Community Mental health for nearly a decade in various roles and with various populations. I have also worked in a residential treatment facility for youth. In both roles, I provided individual and group therapy and I worked with youth and their families in navigating family dynamics and systems.
